About

Léna Pellandini-Simányi is Assistant Professor in the Department of Media and Communication. Her first degree was in Economics. She obtained her PhD in Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2009. Prior to joining the Department of Media and Communication, Léna taught research methods and cultural theory at the LSE and worked at the Young Foundation, London. Léna’s main interests are in cultural theory, economic sociology, material culture studies and theories of practice. Her PhD looked how consumption norms changed from one generation to the other in Hungary and the way these changes are connected to transforming worldviews, social structure and politics.

Léna's current research looks at different evaluation criteria or worth pertaining to particular fields, combining approaches of Bourdieu, Lamont, Boltanski and material culture studies.
